ABOUT

Hi, I'm Sandy.

Welcome to my world (and website)!

In the past few years, Lakeshore Stone Decor has become so much more than a hobby - it's a passion. I'm Sandy Terbrack, a retired high school math teacher.

I never considered myself an artist during those working years, but with encouragement and inspiration from a few friends and family, I have found a whole new world.

I love nature, and I have always been inspired by the beauty of stones. I started "rock hunting" and collecting stones from around Michigan. In 2019, with my large collection, I started creating stone artwork. Now, there is no limit as to what I can do with these beautiful specimens. Starting simple has exploded into a love of challenges!

The timing to start Lakeshore Stone Decor was just right. After working so many years, and dedicating extra time to kids, I couldn't just stop. When we retired, my husband and I moved to Grayling, in northern Michigan. Then, collecting stones became a wonderful pastime for me. I love going out to the Great Lakes, walking the shorelines, or searching the trails in Michigan with my brother, looking for stones. Our creative daughter finally told me, "Mom, you need to make something with all these stones." And so, Lakeshore Stone Decor was created.

After operating an Etsy store for a few successful years, my husband and I decided to start doing art fairs and craft shows. The personal connection with clients is so much fun! And, the activity of planning a booth at a show is something my husband and I enjoy doing together. Hence, we now do four or five shows a year in Michigan, and I have closed my Etsy store. I still do sell my artwork to individuals outside of shows, now through one-to-one contact and custom pieces instead of through a storefront. So bring it on! Ask, and I will give it a try!

It makes me so happy when everyone at the art show smiles as they walk into my booth. Some laugh at the whimsical pieces. Others are in awe of the interesting and challenging pieces. Everyone loves the uniqueness of each stone and each piece of artwork. No two pieces are ever the same.

I would love to someday create a piece for you!
